On October 15th, the 1st Bridgnorth Rainbows, Tasley held a combined celebration. It was a Promise Party for two Rainbows, a Pot of Gold for 1 Rainbow, our 1st Birthday party (Oct. 30) and a Pumpkin Festival celebration! As this was just a big event, we decided to invite the parents to see the whole event, which also allowed the parents to see what their Rainbows are learning with the GirlGuides.
You can see their photos at http://www.michaeljdixon.com/rainbows/pumpkin/index.html
As I was unable to get on the GirlguidingUK website tonight, I thought I would see what else I could find and found your website. I was a Guide in Hodnet and then Guide Guider in Market Drayton up until 1986. I then moved to Wrexham, then Chorley, then Aberystwyth (continuing my Guiding in each place) and am now in Thirsk, North Yorkshire North East. I am now a Brownie Guider, Guider Guider and District Commissioner and my daughter is a Young Leader who has just started her Queen's Guide. It is great to see guiding in Shropshire is still thriving - I even recognised some of the names!! You website looks very good. Best wishes to you all.
Rachel Lamond
Thanks, Rachel. I was starting to think no one was out there. If anyone wants to contact Rachel, get in touch and we'll pass your e-mail on.
Hello! I've been to the L.O.V.E. camp-2006. It was great!!! The English girls are very nice, friendly, experienced and creative. I was glad to practice my language skills in this way. I made a lot of friends there and I miss them and the camp. THANK YOU very much for the valuable experience and this project! =)
Nadia,
Volgograd, Russia.
Thank you Nadia, We're all pleased you enjoyed the camp. We've passed your message on to the team, I know they'll be delighted to hear from you.
Best wishes
Hey I'm Charlie and I'm 14.
I'm at Oxon guides in Shrewsbury and have been for 4 years. Today I just got back from Unity 2006- an international camp being held in Staffordshire. There were guides from Barbados, Sri Lanka, Kenya, America, Canada, Japan, Wales, Ireland and of course England. Oxon Guides were there to represent Shropshire!!! We all had a great time and made loads of new friends from all over the world. xXxXx
Thanks, Charlie, Great to know you had a good time.
Have you or any of the others got any photos or comments we could put in?
Hello,
I will be bringing my twin seven year olds to Shropshire during the summer (early June till end July) and they would like to visit a Brownie group for a session - we are preparing, as part of our Girl Scouts group here a small scrapbook on life here (we are stationed in Myanmar) to hand over as part of the group badge work. Is anyone (pref Hodnet or Shawbury as our house is in Wollerton, but we are staying at Little Bolas) interested in having us over by any chance and receiving / exchanging a scrapbook?
By the way, in answer to the person who was looking for craft and activity downloads - take a look at www.activityvillage.co.uk as it has some great ideas and tools for everything from scrapbooking to crafts.

Lovely to hear from you, Patricia, It's good to know people far afield visit the site.

Hi!
My name's Ellen Deighton, and I did my warrant in Shropshire with 3rd Newport Guides where I was assistant guider. I'm now at university in Canterbury, Kent, where I am a unit guider with 2nd Sturry Guides, assistant guider with Sturry Senior Section, and a member of the newly formed SSAGO unit "CSGAS" (Canterbury Students' Guides and Scouts). Just wondered if there were any other people out there who managed to take on more guiding when they went to university than when they were at home?! Since September I've been to the Big Gig 2005, and next month I'm taking some of my guides to a sleepover at the Science Museum in London! Anyone else who's taking part in any activities down south let me know!
Ellen
Thanks Ellen. You can contact Ellen at ellen_deighton AT hotmail.com
To all my Guiding Friends in Shropshire:
Thank you for the lovely evening on 16th December in Shrewsbury. It was wonderful to see so many friends from all over the County and to
receive good wishes from many more who were unable to attend. I am still finding it hard to put into words how I feel on being presented
with Girlguiding UK's Laurel Award. It was a complete surprise! I am truly honoured. I am proud to have been County Commissioner of
Shropshire and I want to thank you all for your support during my five year appointment - I could not have done it without you!
Marion
We're all rather proud of you too Marion. Best of luck with your work at Region. We hope they're ready for you!
A group of 9 Ladies made up of the Guiders, Mums and Friends of Corvedale Brownies in Ludlow Division are taking part in the Ladies Driving Challenge

to driving a tank, they are automatic and so they won't stall!

I'm Ali Marsh Community Fundraising Manager North Wales, Shropshire & Staffordshire Borders Marie Curie Cancer Care
I am a Guide Guider who has just recently moved from Whitchurch in Shropshire back to North Wales. I was really interested to find your website and thought that the biggest and best organisation for girls and young women might like to hear about the biggest and best fundraising event for Women in Shropshire!
The Marie Curie Cancer Care Ladies Driving Challenge takes place at RAF Shawbury on Sunday September 25 – entry is just £10 and minimum sponsorship £100, to help us provide even more terminal nursing care at home in Shropshire. In exchange you get to drive a variety of vehicles from Fire Engines to JCBs, tanks to Steam Rollers. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity and if you would like further information or an entry form, please contact me on 01352 754596 or by email alison.marshATmariecurie.org.uk
Keep up the good work and Kind Regards
We don't usually put adverts up, but this looked like fun (and worthwhile). Let us know if you try it, please.
The Marie Curie website is at http://www.mariecurie.org.uk/
Hi. I'm Pauline Phillips the county PR adviser for Middlesex South West and am researching guiding websites. I thought I'd look
at yours as I used to work in Shrewsbury for 4 years. A woman I used to work with was a Guide guider in Telford and I
remember thinking how brave she must be to do it! Then a few years later I took the plunge to become a Brownie guider.
Keep up the good work
Thanks Pauline. It would be interesting to know what the research turns up
P.S. I think all Guiders are brave!
Hi I'm Steph Lloyd, a Rainbow Guider from Aberystwyth, Ceredigion.
Thought I'd let you know I'm a regular visitor to you site and think it's really good.
I'm currently a student in Aberystwyth but come from Shropshire where I completed my warrant in South Telford.
The site is really useful in trying to keep up to date with what's going on back home, so keep it up.
Steph
It's good to see the ex-pats look in on us! Thanks for the pat on the back, Steph
Any one got any IDEAS we can use? Let's hear from you, let's make it MORE useful.
Hi I'm Gillian Jepson, Brownie Guider from Telford.
After finally getting access to the Internet ( I've 2 teenage children so I don't need to say more!)
It's great to get on our web site. In answer to Sandra Pugh's query about Hay box recipies I believe that there were some recipies in a back issue of activate.
I'll keep checking the site - now I've found it. It's great to hear from other Guiders around the country.
Hi, Gill. It's been months since we heard from anyone out there. Please keep in touch and encourage any other members to contact us.
We will only be able to provide a forum if people talk to us.
Hi, I'm Adele Pennington and I am now a Brownie and Ranger guider in Somerset.
This new website looks great ! We hope to get our unit website up and running shortly

or will send to anyone that emails me at the following address adelejp31ATyahoo.co.uk

We have just had a really good camp (my first in a long time!!) and the first for my caterer. She did a great job with the
catering but didn't get as much chance to join in the activities as we hoped; We do have a haybox which we would like to make use of, but no recipes so if you have any recipes that have been enjoyed on camp, we would be
glad to recieve them. Many thanks.
Any suggestions? We’ve put a section for “Hay Box Cooking” on the Ideas page, but we need the recipes.
From: Amie Smout a Guide in Shropshire

Can we have something to download and do e.g a craft item or games ?
I’ll be back I’ve just been surfing the net and decided to visit!!!!!
There is an idea for craft on the Ideas-Guide page, Amie but we’d welcome more.
Does anyone else out there have any suggestions?
P.S. It’s good to hear from someone in Shropshire!
